Get the Most
from Your Strength Training Routine
Strength training routines are
great to help you burn fat and gain muscle. While any
routine you do will be beneficial, there are some ways
you can make your routines more effective. If you read
below, you can find out how to get the most from your
strength training routine to see faster
results.
-
Keep
your body guessing. When your body becomes efficient at
performing a certain exercise, it doesn't burn the same
amount of calories as it did when the exercise was new. If
you want to keep seeing progressive results with your
muscles, you need to continually change your routine. Now
this doesn't mean you have to change it up everyday. You
might just try adding some new exercises every couple of
weeks. If you notice that your results start to slow down,
you might start changing the routine more
often.
-
Make the routine challenging. If you don't
challenge your body, you'll never see the results you
want in a short amount of time. This means that you
need to make sure every workout is difficult. If
you're able to perform several sets of an exercise
without a problem, that's a good sign it's not hard
enough. You may need to increase the resistance or
find a more challenging exercise. Also, you'll
probably need to increase the level of difficulty
often since your body will continually adapt to the
new level.
-
Make
each rep count. When you're strength training, you want to
make sure that every rep you perform counts. To do this,
you need to keep your focus throughout the entire exercise.
Make sure you're performing the exercise correctly. You may
also want to slow down the speed you perform the exercise
at. This will make your muscles have to work ten times
harder than if you rush through it. If you really want to
make your reps count, you can add in an isometric hold at
the end. This is where you hold the contraction for several
seconds before you lower it back to the starting
position.
-
Take a
day off. While it may seem like you need to workout
everyday to see results, it's not true. Your muscles have
to have time to recover and repair from your workouts. This
recovery time is when they actually get stronger and
larger. So make sure you don't ever work the same muscle
group two days in a row.
As you can see, there are a
few ways you can make your strength training routines more
effective. All you have to do is add variety, make it
challenging, focus on quality, and give your muscles a break
every now and then. If you follow these suggestions, you'll be
able to get the most out of every routine, so you can see
better results in a shorter period of time.
